phd gallery in St. Louis opened its doors on Cherokee Street April 21, 2007, becoming the latest addition to the white-hot arts district forming on the city's south side. Boasting three adjoining storefronts in a GREEN building (in both design and color), phd features 12 foot ceilings, clean white walls, north facing windows, and a combined exhibition space of nearly 2000 square feet. Reflecting the passion and artistic vision of artist Philip Hitchcock, phd is an alternative art space that advances challenging works by ground-breaking local, regional, and national artists.

The Buzz...

"The newly opened gallery in the up-and-coming Cherokee art district continues its track record of presenting stellar work from local, regional, and international artists..."
~ ALIVE Magazine

"Contemporary art gallery in the Cherokee-Lemp district is more polished and less bohemian than the storefronts that initially sparked this arts district, but sculptor and proprietor Philip Hitchcock books clever, inventive exhibits that are always poised to give the establishment a nice big poke in the eye. The aesthetic tends toward clean and minimal; artists are both local and national."
